Stephen Wire | About Me

A little background about me:

I've been doing IT work since 1994 when I started college.  My brother told me to look into getting a job monitoring a computer lab but I ended up getting a job as a help desk technician working campus wide tech support.  Troubleshooting hardware problems and installing software transitioned into servers, networking, mainframes, running cables, ...etc.  My degree started as Electrical Engineering which required several computer programming classes.  I fell in love with programming and eventually switched to computer science.  Since then my entire career has been a mix of programming, analysis, and infrastructure work.

I wish I was one of the people with a mind like a steel trap, able to recall every .NET object and related function.  That is not me.  There is just too much information out there now and it is constantly changing, so I focus on being able to learn quickly and commenting my code  so that I can use it as a reference later.  That is sort of the reason for this blog.  There are so many things that I will do one time that is very helpful but I never write it down.  I wanted to start capturing all this information in case I needed to reference it again or in case someone else encountered the one off scenario that is hard to figure out.

I'm not going to pretend that the code I include here is the best way to do things, the proper way to do things, or an efficient way to do things.  It is simply a documented way to complete a specific task so that someone can move on to the next task.

If anything in this blog helps you solve a problem that you were struggling with please let me know.
